The seasons are shifting, and with them, so am I…
Spring has always felt like a beginning, like opening the first page of a long-awaited chapter, filled with possibility and light. And now, I find myself ready to step into something new, both in life and in Folklore Photography.
Hi friends, I’m Sophie, and over a decade ago, I created what was known then as “Forever Photography” as to me, capturing memories in photographs is a way of knowing they will live on forever. However as the years went by, I felt more and more detached to the name. So after a few weeks deliberating, I got together with my best friend (and now assistant - thanks Ryan!) and we rebranded into Folklore Photography.
Shiny and new, we set off on an adventure together to create this new photography brand. As we wandered down different paths, discovering what we did and didn’t love, I uncovered something important: I don’t just want to take portraits, I want to create. I want my work, and my brand, to mirror the things that set my soul alight: magic, forests, moss, castles, the quiet wonder of nature, that unmistakable fairytale feeling, and the timeless fantasy of romance.
Why? Because I’ve always been in love with love. With the way two people find each other. With the quirks, the little details, the stories whispered in between moments. Hope. Connection. Destiny. Photography has always been my way of holding onto that magic, not just capturing images, but weaving stories to return to whenever someone needs reminding of their own fairytale.
That’s where Folklore Photography was born; from my lifelong obsession with books, writing, and the belief that love is the most magical force of all. (Cheesy, I know, but beautifully true.)
What’s even more magical for me is that this year, I turn 30. And to me, it feels like coming home. I’ve spent much of my twenties trying to figure out who I was, what I believed in, and where I belonged. I learned hard lessons about love, about people, about creativity. I walked away from what didn’t serve me and leaned into what lit my soul on fire.
Now, here’s the truth: social media moves too fast for me. Weekly content calendars, endless algorithms, and constant posting… it’s not who I am, and it never will be. Between working full-time, honoring my commitments, and living life, I realized that I couldn’t and didn’t want to keep up with the pace.
So I’ve chosen a different path. Folklore will exist in seasons, the way stories do.
Each season will be its own chapter, a mood, a world, a tale we can step into together. There will be pauses, yes, but those pauses only make the blooms more beautiful when they arrive. Folklore won’t be rushed. Instead, it will be intentional, magical, and worth the wait. When a new season comes, it will feel like stepping into a spell that has been woven just for you.
Just like the earth moves through spring, summer, autumn, and winter, Folklore will now move through creative seasons too. Each season will be its own story: a mood, a chapter, a world you can step into. These won’t be fleeting Instagram posts lost in the scroll. They’ll be intentional, meaningful, and magical experiences for both of us to savor.
I’m also dreaming up a way to share regular letters with you—maybe monthly, maybe every other month, little updates about the next adventure on the horizon. Instead of trying to be everywhere all at once, I want to pour my heart into these moments and make them truly unforgettable when Folklore blooms.
But here’s the thing;I don’t want this to be just my vision. I want you, my VIP’s, to feel woven into the fabric of Folklore itself. That means your opinions, your imagination, your sense of wonder. I’m excited to create playful polls where you’ll help decide the look and feel of upcoming sessions: “crown or sword?” … “velvet cape or chiffon?” … so together, we shape the magic.
Because Folklore isn’t only about my love of fairytales, it’s about what magic feels like to you my VIP’s.

Romantasy is the combination of everything I’ve ever loved, the fantasy of romance. That is where my heart lives. It’s the genre of books I’ve devoured since childhood, the stories that have shaped me, the daydreams that color my world. Castles, enchanted forests, secret gardens, destiny, soulmates, timeless love. That is the world I want to bring into my photography. Not just pretty pictures, but scenes pulled from novels, whispers of fairytales, moments that feel otherworldly and yet deeply yours.
Folklore has always been about love stories, but now, I’m leaning into the magic of them. Every session, every collection, every image will hold a touch of enchantment like you’ve stepped into a page written just for you.
Which brings us to now… the turning of a page.
For one afternoon only, we will be stepping out of the forest, and into a meadow unlike any other. Imagine a hidden glade where time slows, laughter lingers in the air, and love itself feels painted across the light. I’ll be hand-placing flowers into the earth until the ground blooms with color, creating a storybook scene that will never exist again.

Think golden light spills through the trees, catching on lace and hair. Wildflowers bloom in every shade, violet, blush, gold, cream painting the meadow in living color. Time itself seems to pause here, wrapped in hush and stillness.
Lovers move softly through the glow: tender embraces, foreheads pressed close, love shown in quiet ways rather than grand gestures. Books and blossoms intertwine, carrying the language of fairytales — stories bound in petals and pages. Pathways and fields stretch endlessly, as if the world has folded inwards to belong only to two souls.
This isn’t just about flowers and sunshine; it’s about capturing a fleeting season of love and holding it forever.
